L-3 has been awarded a $49.5 million contract for night vision binoculars for special operations forces.
The five-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract covers binocular night vision devices (BNVD).
“This procurement is for a follow-on contract for the next generation BNVD goggles with white phosphor tubes that focus on weight, size, and power reductions,” according to the Department of Defense contract announcement. “The BNVD will allow special operations forces to operate with an enhanced visual acuity in low light conditions thereby increasing both their lethality and survivability while achieving their mission objectives.”
The contract was awarded by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division in Crane, Indiana.
