Elbit Systems has been awarded a $26.5 million contract to provide missile countermeasure systems to an Asian country.
The Elbit announcement did not name the purchaser, but did say the company would supply its commercial multi-spectral infrared countermeasures (C-MUSIC) equipment “to be implemented onboard a widebody jet aircraft of a country in the Asia-Pacific region.”
C-MUSIC uses advanced fiber laser-directed infrared countermeasure technology to protect mid- to large-size airliners against shoulder-fired heat-seeking missiles. Elbit and Airbus recently demonstrated the technology for NATO.
