Britain has selected Honeywell’s TALIN inertial land navigation system for its new armored fighting vehicles.
TALIN will be installed in the Ajax vehicles being developed by General Dynamics Land Systems UK. General Dynamics is under contract to deliver 589 Ajax models, which will be a family of armored vehicles.
“Featuring three-axis inertial sensors and weighing less than 6 kilograms [13 pounds], TALIN is in operational use on military and commercial platforms worldwide,” according to a Honeywell news release. “It is easily installed and can be mounted in a number of ways. It is smaller and lighter than other available navigation solutions and offers more reliable performance.”
