Raytheon has been awarded a $15.5 million U.S. Navy contract to develop a software architecture for the P-8A Poseidon.
Raytheon will develop a flexible, application-based architecture (ABA). “The goal is to use readily available technology to quickly upgrade the P-8A’s warfighting capability,” said Jerry Powlen, vice president of ISR systems for Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems in a company news release. “This open systems architecture can easily be used for other domestic and international customers looking to affordably enhance their airborne platforms.”
The work will be performed in McKinney, Texas, with a scheduled completion date of March 2017.
