While defense IT spending would grow by $37.3 billion under the president’s 2016 budget request, civilian government IT would rise by $49.1 billion, according to a report in federal times.
Overall, the governmentwide budget request for IT will grow about 2.7 percent, or $2.3 billion.
In the budget documents released Monday, the administration pointed to programs like PortfolioStat that have decreased wasteful spending on IT projects and efforts like the Digital Service to improve citizen experience with government online.
